Lady Diana at the RVT
Lady Diana at the RVT
Local Artist tshirt design to celebrate when Princess Diana, Mercury and the comedian Kenny Everett went out to the Royal Vauxhall Tavern gay bar. Diana was at the height of her fame and such an outing could have caused significant controversy in the press.
But apparently, mischievous Diana would not be deterred. She was supported in her endeavour by Mercury, who told the group: ‘Go on, let the girl have some fun.’ To enable the Princess to have her way while avoiding a scandal, the friends dressed her up as a man, hoping that she would pass for a rather eccentrically dressed gay male model.
